Ragi, also known as Finger Millet or Eleusine coracana, is mainly grown in
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. It thrives in red loam to black
soils with good drainage. The crop takes 100-120 days to mature.

Alternate names include Mandua in Hindi, Kelvaragu in Tamil, Koovaraku in
Malayalam, and Ragi in Kannada. Known for its high calcium and iron content, ragi is a
staple in traditional Indian diets, especially in arid regions.
